Paths
The works are dedicated to the theme of both intimate and physical “journeys” and to the perception and vision of the world. Space is expressed through fantastical geographical maps, the result of reworking disparate materials. They represent journeys of the soul and spiritual bewilderment, depicting visions of the world. After all, even reality contains fiction, and Google Maps is nothing more than the reconstruction of countless images perpetuated in a fixed moment in time.
SERIES 1984
The small-format works are created from personal analogue photographs, printed in black and white. The image, which represents a detail of a path, a piece of land or a trail, has been modified with pastels and acrylics, giving shape to fantastical geographical visions. The image of a microcosm is transformed into a macrocosm.
EXPLORATIONS SERIES
Recurring themes of exploration are imaginary maps and islands that cannot be found: Odysseus' endless journeys.
